Sourced Adventure’s Long Island Winery Tour

For all you self-proclaimed wine-o’s out there, this post is for you!

We recently collaborated with the outdoor adventure tourism group, Sourced Adventures, for their fun filled Long Island Winery Tour! This vino-filled excursion includes transportation to and from Long Island, 13 different wine tastings, a tour of three of the areas chicest wineries and a hearty lunch: sheer perfection.

A perfect option for those looking to escape  the hustle and bustle of the busy city life can relax, have some fun with the girls, or a wind down on a romantic day date with their significant other.

Sourced Adventures’s mission is to make the outdoors accessible and affordable for everyone. They do this (and much more) by providing round-trip transportation and excursions appropriate for any season.

Wineries not really your forte? Don’t worry – Sourced Adventures has you covered.  They also offer other all-inclusive excursions from NYC including day and weekend ski trips to Vermont, a snow tubing and brewery tour, a 5 – day trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights, and a five-day adventure to the tropical oasis of Mexico. Now, we’ll walk you through our Long Island Winery day adventure!

The first stop was at the gorgeous Raphael Winery. The winery was designed by John Petrocelli who was inspired by the Italian monasteries of his ancestors. He wanted the venue to have Mediterranean architecture but a modern winemaking space. By building the winery 12 feet underground, Raphael is able to craft their wines using the earth’s natural temperature to cool the winery in the summer and heat things up in the winter. We were so enchanted by the beauty of the winery that we found ourselves dreaming of our future wedding (take note, boys).

During our wine tasting at Raphael, we were offered complimentary cheese and freshly baked bread to pair with our delicious tastings. Below are some pictures of our relaxing and fun afternoon:

The next winery was convieiently located just a block away.  The Lenz Winery, although beautiful in it’s own way, didn’t catch our eye quite the same as Raphael Winery, though it still had a lot going for it. The outdoor area was quaint and included a lot of space to sit back and enjoy the view of their endless vineyards. They offered twelve different wines in total, and we were lucky enough to try four of their best sellers.

During our wine tasting, we munched on a packed lunch consisting of fresh fruit, chips, and a deli sandwich while surrounded by vintage wine barrels. We couldn’t wait to go explore outside before we so now we’ll let our photos do the talking.

The third and final winery we explored with Sourced Adventures was Osprey’s Dominion. As their first vines were planted in 1983, they now they own more than 90 acres of land (no suprise that there’s no shortage of great tasting vino at this destination!).

Osprey’s Dominion also offers a cozy outdoor area where patrons can warm up by a fire pit and toast marshmallows while sipping on their house-made wine. They offer 13 different types of wine including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Malbec, Tannat, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Carmenere.

We’re not going to lie, by the last winery we toured, we were a little tipsy, but it was totally worth every sip.

As we loaded the bus to head back to Manhattan and reflected on the amazing people we met, the wine we sipped, and the beautiful sunset and scenery we soaked in. (To be honest. we quickly found ourselves not wanting to leave!)

Our experience with Sourced Adventures was one to remember, and we can’t wait to book our next excursion with their knowledgeable and professional team.
